The largest Android smartphone ever launched by Sony Mobile, the Xperia Z Ultra is about to make its debut on the Canadian market.

MobileSyrup reports that the smartphone has been confirmed to arrive at Bell Canada carrier in October, though no details on the Xperia Z Ultra’s exact release date and pricing options have been disclosed yet.

There’s also word that Sony Xperia Z Ultra will be a Bell exclusive, which means that it will take some time until the phablet goes on sale at other Canadian carriers.

Sony’s phablet is already available for purchase in some countries, but has yet to go on sale in Canada. For those unfamiliar with the smartphone, Sony Xperia Z Ultra will be delivered with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

However, we expect Sony to announce that the phablet will receive an upgrade to Android 4.3 or even Android 4.4 KitKat in the next few weeks.

Unfortunately, there’s no telling when exactly the Japanese handset maker will be able to deliver the next major update for its phablet.

Hardware-wise, the Xperia Ultra Z will come equipped with a 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit and 2 GB of RAM.

The smartphone has been confirmed to boast a huge 6.4-inch Triluminous display with full HD (1080p) resolution, X-Reality Engine for mobiles and scratch-resistant glass. Sony Xperia Z Ultra is IP58 certified (dust and water proof) and water resistant up to 1 meter.

On the back, the phone sports an enhanced 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front, there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

Last but not least, Sony’s phablet is powered by a non-removable 3050 mAh Li-Ion battery, which should provide up to 790 hours of standby time (up to 820 hours in 3G mode) or up to 14 hours of talk time (16 hours in 3G mode).
