Sony Xperia SP was officially unveiled last month and is expected to arrive on the market later this month or early May.

Android enthusiasts in the UK who are looking for an affordable device will probably be glad to know the Xperia SP is now available for pre-order.

The Inquirer reports major retailer Phones4u has just kicked off pre-orders for Sony Xperia SP and offers free Bluetooth headsets for the first 200 customers. Aside from that, those who pre-purchase the phone will also get 3 months of free Wi-Fi.

The bad news is that those who pre-order the smartphone will not receive their devices until next month. Phones4u mentions that customers who order today will get their Xperia SP phones as early as May 17.

Sony Xperia SP is available for free on select plans at T-Mobile, Orange, Vodafone and EE (Everything Everywhere). Check it out here.

The Xperia SP will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and a powerful enough 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon Pro processor.

Furthermore, the smartphone packs an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The 4.6-inch Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution and feature Corning Gorilla Glass coating is another strong point of the Xperia SP.

On the back, the device boasts an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there’s a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Connectivity-wise, Xperia SP offers LTE and HSDPA (42Mbps) support, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS.

Last but not least, Sony Xperia SP is powered by a high-capacity 2370 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 635 hours of standby time or up to 10 hours of talk time.
