Orange is the third UK-based carrier that confirms plans to sell the newly announced Sony Xperia S. No later than yesterday, Three UK and O2 came forward with official announcement saying they would carry the smartphone.

It’s almost sure that T-Mobile will also carry the Xperia S due to the fact that it’s part of the same company as Orange UK. However, things are not going well for Vodafone UK who was negative on the possible launch of the Xperia S.

It may be a matter a time before Vodafone announces its Xperia S, or the carrier is simply planning to release another device, hopefully, better than this one. Either way, most carriers in the UK will offer the Xperia S in the following weeks.

Also known as Sony Ericsson Xperia Nozomi, the Xperia S is one of the first to come out wearing only Sony’s branding, though this was to be expected given the Japanese company’s latest comments on the subject.

The smartphone was announced at the International Consumer Electronics Show, along with the AT&T-bound Xperia ion. Both devices run Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but Sony stated that Xperia S and Xperia ion would receive the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade soon after they hit shelves.

According to the latest hearsay, Sony Xperia S is slated for a March release, but availability and pricing options at Orange UK will be announced soon.

Sony Xperia S is equipped with a powerful dual core Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.5GHz and an Adreno 220 graphics processing unit. The phone is said to feature 1 to 1.5GB internal memory, 32GB flash memory, but no microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Another strong point of the Xperia S is the impressive 12-megapixel Exmor R camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. There’s also a secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.
