The single SIM version of Xperia M2 has just gone on sale in the UK and Germany and will soon arrive in other European countries. The dual-SIM model was released in India a few weeks ago and more recently in other Asian countries, including Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Dubbed Sony Xperia M2 dual, the dual SIM variant of the smartphone has just gone on pre-order in Australia as well, AusDroid reports. For the time being, the only retailer that accepts pre-orders for Sony Xperia M2 dual is MobiCity.

Potential customers should know that the Australian retailer offers the Xperia M2 dual for $350 (€240) outright, plus shipping fees.

This isn't too high of a price considering the single SIM version is available in Europe for around €250 ($365) – €270 ($395) off contract.

According to MobiCity, the Xperia M2 dual will arrive in stock only in black and purple. However, an exact release date has yet to be confirmed by the Australian retailer.

Keep in mind thought that, if you want to purchase the Xperia M2 dual in Australia, you might want to wait a few more days, as other authorized retailers might add it to their portfolios and for better prices.

For those not in the loop with the Xperia M2 dual's specs sheet, here is a quick recap. First of all, the Xperia M2 dual is a mid-range smartphone that comes with an older version of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Still, Sony Mobile confirmed the smartphone is on track for an Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade soon after release, so potential customers shouldn't worry about that.

On the inside, aside from the fact that it comes with dual SIM support, there are no differences between the two Xperia M2 models.

In this regard, it's worth mentioning that both are powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processors, which are complemented by Adreno 305 graphics processing units and 1GB of RAM.

The Xperia M2 dual packs 8GB of storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot. It also sports a 4.8-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution.

The smartphone comes with dual cameras: 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Other highlights of the Xperia M2 dual include: HSDPA and HSUPA support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC (Near Field Communication), as well as GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS. The smartphone is powered by a 2300 mAh non-removable battery.
