This new Sony Vaio G2 laptop will be launched sometime during the next month in Japan, while the rest of the computer users will have to wait a little bit longer until they have the opportunity to enjoy its new features.

The new Sony Vaio G2 laptop is based on the Intel mobile computing platform and it is powered by an Intel central processing unit from the Core 2 Duo family of products, and among the new features that were integrated into it, there is a new dirt-proof keyboard system and the option to purchase a solid state drive as an augmenting part for the storage sub-system.

The dirt and drip proof keyboard comes with some embedded sensors that will automatically shutdown the computer system if a spillage is detected in order to protect it from a short circuit. Several processing units are available for users to choose from and they include the U7600 or U7500 models, while the solid state drive is also available in several storage capabilities like the 32GB, 48GB or 64Gb drives.

On the general connectivity department, the Sony Vaio G2 will come with two high speed USB 2.0 ports, a memory card slot, a IEEE 802.11a/b/g compliant wireless network interface, a wired Gigabit Ethernet, together with Bluetooth 2.0 as well as a fingerprint sensor for enhanced security. When it comes to operating systems, the G2 will offer the user the possibility to choose between Microsoft Windows XP and Vista and according to the news site gizmodo, the manufacturing company claims that its integrated Lithium Ion battery pack will be able to provide over 11 hours of continuous operation.

The new Sony Vaio G2 notebook is available in several colors (black, brown and silver) and depending on the particular hardware configuration, it will come with a price tag between $1346 and $2392.
