Sony's been one of the first companies to introduce consumer-grade camcorders featuring interchangeable lenses (the NEX series), but it seems that the Japanese company has now decided to take everything to a whole new level by introducing the NEX-FS100UK, the professional version of the aforementioned imaging device.

According to Sony, their brand-new pro-camcorder is built around a large CMOS sensor equivalent in size to Super35mm film, which allows it to shoot 1920x1080p videos in AVCHD format, both in quick and slow motion, in order to allow for enhanced visual effects during motion pictures.

Another major selling point the new camcorder has in store is represented by the fact that it offers quite an impressive level of support as far as the compatible lenses are concerned, due to the fact that it features a Sony E-mount Interchangeable lens system, compatible both with existing lenses (released for the previous NEX models) and with a plethora of new products set to arrive on the market in the near future, after Sony made available the basic specs for this mount type to other lens manufacturers (such as Tamron, Sigma and Cosina).

It's also important to point out that the camcorder touts a very compact and slim body (for a professional camcorder, that is) with a detachable grip and handle, while also allowing videographers to immediately review videos on its 3.5-inch XtraFine LCD/ View finder.

Given the fact that we're talking about a professional camcorder here, and one pertaining to the latest generation of such products to make its way onto the market, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the new NEX-FS100 interchangeable lens device is also quite on the expensive side, selling for somewhere in the vicinity of $6,550.00, which is not exactly a sum most home consumers will afford, all things considered.
