Shortly after releasing the Sony Tablet S in the UK, the Japanese company introduced the 3G-enabled version of the Honeycomb tablet.

Unlike the Wi-Fi only model, which is available for £349 (540 USD or 410 EUR), the 3G variant is £100 more expensive, so customer who want to purchase it are required to shell out no less than £449 (700 USD or 525 EUR).

The tablet can be ordered via Sony’s webstore, but customers can also choose to pick it up from the nearest Sony store.

Sony Tablet S is currently one of the most expensive Android tablets available in the market. However, the tablet comes with a set of unique features that makes it worthwhile, especially for PlayStation fans.

Basically, the slate is fully compatible with most PlayStation games and offered integrated access to Sony’s cloud-based Unlimited Music services.

There’s also infrared support, something very rare these days, which allows the tablet to connect to other Sony devices that support this connectivity option, as well as other branded devices.

Software-wise, Sony Tablet S 3G is delivered with Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system, but it won’t come as a surprise if Sony will push the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade next year.

The tablet has a 9.4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that boasts 800 x 1280 pixels resolution and support for 16 million colors. Although the slate embeds 16GB onboard memory, users can expand storage via microSD card slot up to 32GB.

Sony Tablet S 3G is equipped with a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor clocked at 1 GHz, which is complemented by an ULP GeForce graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

All sorts of sensors are included as well in order to make gaming smoother than ever with the Sony Tablet S: accelerometer, gyro and compass.

The 3G-enabled tablet also sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and HD (720p) video recording, and a secondary VGA camera for video calls.
