Available for pre-order from the end of last month, Sony's Tablet S will start selling in Australia from tomorrow, October 25, with prices for the 16GB version starting at $579 AUD, which translates into roughly $598 US or 432 Euros.

The 32GB version of the Sony tablet will also be made available and will retail for $689 AUD ($712 US or 514 Euros). Both prices are higher than those asked by Sony US for the Tablet S.

As far as specs as concerned, like many other tablets based on the 3.1 version of Google's Android operating system (also known as Honeycomb), the Tablet S is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 2 system-on-a-chip.

This includes a pair of Cortex A9 ARM cores clocked at 1GHz as well as a GeForce graphics unit for delivering an impressive UI performance.

The rest of the specifications list includes a 5MP rear and a 0.3MP front facing camera, a full-size SD card slot, Bluetooth 2.1 and 802.11 b/g/n wireless connectivity with DLNA support, as well as 1GB of internal memory and a non-removable Li-Ion 5000mAh battery.

The screen measures 9.4-inch in diagonal and it sports a native resolution of 1280x800 pixels.

Other than the standard features available in Google's Honeycomb 3.1 operating system, Sony's creation also boasts a couple of unique options, such as PlayStation game compatibility and an integrated infrared sensor, which works not only with Sony devices but with other brand products as well.

Furthermore, owners of the Tablet S will also be able to access Sony's cloud-based Music Unlimited service which has gained support for Android slates just the past week.

Two types of subscriptions are available, a Basic one that costs $4.99 AUD ($3.99 in the US and 3.99 EUR in Europe) and a Premium subscription that is $12.99 AUD ($9.99 US or 3.99 EUR).

Sony Tablet owners who are first-time subscribers to the Music Unlimited service will receive a 180-day trial of the Basic subscription plan.
