Sony only unveiled two new Xperia phones at the Mobile World Congress 2012, last week in Barcelona. However, the company plans to launch additional devices by the end of the year.

In the meantime, AT&T and Sony officially confirmed that the Tablet P would hit shelves on March 4 for as low as $399.99 (300 EUR) with a new two-year agreement. The slate will be available both online and in more than 1,000 AT&T retail stores.

Those who are willing to commit to a new two-year service agreement can choose any of the two postpaid data plan options: AT&T DataConnect 3GB for $35 or AT&T DataConnect 5GB for $50.

The carrier also offers the Sony Tablet P on pre-paid, which means customers won’t have to commit to a long-term contract.

However, customers will have to shell out no less than $549.99 (415 EUR) and choose one of the three prepaid plan options: AT&T DataConnect 250MB for $14.99, AT&T DataConnect 3GB for $30 or AT&T DataConnect 5GB for $50.

With a unique design, Sony Tablet P comes with a dual-screen layout that allows its 5.5-inch displays to be used for different actions, including playing video on one screen while using the other as a controller, as well as checking email on one screen while using the other as a keyboard.

According to AT&T, customers who purchase Sony Tablet P will be able to download apps optimized for the dual screens “Select App” store.

Furthermore, the tablet’s owners will also be provided with access to more than 400,000 apps via Android Market. Obviously, the Sony Tablet P is PlayStation Certified and offers users access to the full suite of Sony Network Entertainment services.

Sony Tablet P is powered by Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system, but Sony already confirmed it would deploy Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update in the following months.
