When will Sony be suing somebody and not the other way around?

It's time to start wondering if Sony has managed to bring some original ideas in the Playstation 3 because they are just being sued for infringing another patent, own by Parallel Processing (ironically) called "Synchronized Parallel Processing with Shared Memory".

The patent number 5056000, according to freepatentsonline.com, is described like this: "A high speed computer that permits the partitioning of a single computer program into smaller concurrent processes running in different parallel processors. The program execution time is divided into synchronous phases, each of which may require a shared memory to be configured in a distinct way. At the end of each execution phase, the processors are resynchronized such that the composite system will be in a known state at a known point in time. The computer makes efficient use of hardware such that n processors can solve a problem almost n times as fast as a single processor." In Sony's vocabulary it's simply translated to Cell.

The company has filled a lawsuit at US District Court's Eastern District of Texas Tyler Division, if you care to know that bit of information and it's quite adamant in its plaint: "On information and belief, Defendant Sony Corporation of America has infringed and continues to infringe on the '000 Patent by making, using, importing, offering for sale and/or selling products among other things, covered by one or more claims of the '000 Patent, including, but not limited to, Sony Playstation III" and they require no more and no less than "the impounding and destruction of all Defendant's products that infringe the '000 Patent", plus a lot of cash in damages.

The joysticks we use today with Sony's Playstation 3 do not have force feedback because they we're involved in a lawsuit with Immersion Corporation for the illegal use of force feedback features in their last console, without their approval. You don't really need a binocular to see a pattern here and I'm starting to believe we might see a couple of more trials in PS3's life.
