Sony Mobile has reportedly started the rollout of the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Xperia mini pro and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman smartphones.

Although the Japanese handset maker has yet to update the SI numbers lists in their respective threads, there have been reports that confirm the availability of the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for both Xperia mini pro and Live with Walkman smartphones.

However, according to the handset maker, the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman thread will be updated with SI numbers soon. Those who are not familiar with the upgrading procedure should know that:

Since there are minor differences in the software depending on product, country and operator we have a unique identifier that we call Sales Item (SI). The SI is identified by an 8-digit number in the format XXXX-XXXX.”

In order to find what SI number the phone has, one would simply have to take off the back-cover and pull out the battery and check under it to find the SI number.

There’s also a special thread that describes the latest changes added with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich for Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman.

At first glance, it appears that Sony decided to modify the UI. However, this might not appeal to everyone. More details will probably be published within the next hours so check out the original thread.

Keep in mind that the update is not pushed OTA (over the air), so when trying to upgrade to Android 4.0 ICS you might get a software error message. To solve this problem simply use Sony Update Center to upgrade the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman.

The same update is now available for Xperia mini pro as well or at least in India. An Indian user has already posted the first screenshots of the update along with some instructions on how to get it.

Keep in mind that you will need PC Companion to upgrade the Xperia mini pro to Android 4.0.4 ICS. Check out mode details here.
