If you own a tablet and feel like the device might need a memory enhancement, then you should be pleased to know that Sony has launched a line of new USB flash drives especially designed for tablets.

Interested parties note that the Sony USB flash drive is quite versatile, with one end featuring a full-sized USB connector compatible with desktops and notebooks. Lift off the cap and you’ll find a micro USB connector hidden under the hood. Pretty nifty!

Director of Consumer Media Marketing at Sony, Viviano Cantu introduced the new drives.

"Consumers want to let a friend see the photo they just took or share a video easily with as few steps as possible."

"These new drives combine convenience, peace of mind and performance and are perfect for mobile multi-tasking."

The Sony gizmo is compatible with almost any Android tablet out there. As you plug the drive in, you’ll notice it will appear as external storage.

Thus, moving files from and to your mobile device will become extremely easy. But note you will have to have Android 4.0.3 to 4.3 installed on your device for the flash drives to be recognized.

The On-the-Go (OTG) function enables portable devices such as tablets to be used as a "host" when connected to other USB peripherals.

Planning to go on a long trip? The Sony flash drive will come in extremely handy. Just load up a few movies and TV Show episodes and you’ll be good to go. On top of that you won’t have to worry about your tablet being full.

Sony also offers a File Manager app via the Google Play Store to smoothen the browsing, copying and deleting of content.

The flash drive will become available in January in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB flavors with 3 cap color choices and will sell for $20 / €15,$30 / €22 and $63 / €44 respectively.
