Japanese electronics manufacturer Sony is well known for its high-quality photographic equipment and accessories, and it has recently seen an increased attention from the press after it launched the world's first full frame mirrorless digital cameras, the A7 and A7R.

Besides digital cameras, the firm also manufactures various lenses compatible with a wide range of devices including DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, and smartphones. Such smartphone-compatible lenses are the wireless DSC-QX100 and DSC-QX10 models that come with an integrated Exmor R CMOS sensor and Carl Zeiss optics.

Using these lenses, every smartphone user could capture unique photos thanks to the enhanced optical capabilities as well as superior image quality provided by the integrated image sensor.

In a recent press release, the company announced that was planning to introduce a new firmware upgrade for its Cyber-shot QX100 and QX10 “Lens-style” cameras that will further increase the capabilities of these amazing lenses.

With the new firmware update, both Cyber-shot QX Series cameras will benefit from an increased image resolution that will allow you to capture 1920x1080 Full HD video footage at 30 frames per second.

In addition to that, the company will expand the current ISO capabilities of both models, allowing you to get better results when shooting in low-light conditions. The QX100 camera will receive a boost in ISO from ISO 3200 to a maximum ISO 12800. At the same time, the QX10 will expand its ISO range from a maximum ISO 1600 to ISO 3200.

Furthermore, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-QX100 model will also receive a Shutter Priority (“S”) Mode that will increase its shooting capabilities, giving you more manual control options.

Sony also announced that a new version of its PlayMemories Mobile App is now available and comes with faster connection speeds and photo browsing.

The firmware will be available starting January 2014 from the official Sony support website.
