The Sony PSP console will be released today in the United States and fans curiosity will finally be satisfied. Starting with midnight, many virtual stores will meet the preorders and will take new orders; the official console release will take place in a double location: New York and San Francisco.

Only for the initial release moment Sony announced its intention to distribute one million PSP consoles; for now, the large store stocks seem to be able to meet any demand. The Japanese were able to choose between two versions of the console: the PSP standard model and the "Value Pack" model, which includes the console, a textile material case, a 32 Mb Memory Stick and a pair of headphones.

The Americans will be offered only the second version of the console along with gadgets and accessories. This version will be available at a price of 249.99 dollars.

For now it is unknown what games will be available when the console is launched; Sony didn't specify any names and only mentioned something about the "releasing period".

A number of 17 games is expected to be available for the gamers; the most waited are: Metal Gear Acid, Ridge Racer, Dynasty Warriors, Spider-Man 2, WipEout Pure and the puzzle Lumines.

Europeans will have to wait for at least another month until the console will be available on the old continent..

One of main competitors for Sony's PSP is the Nintendo DS console, released not long ago, whose price drops to only 100 dollars.

One of the characteristics of Nintendo DS console is the presence of two LCD displays, which doesn't necessary mean an improved image quality. Slanderers say that the DS can hardly keep up with 3D images. Besides classic controlling methods, Nintendo added the possibility of using a stylus for controlling the console, which wasn't a very good solution.
