One of the biggest photographic events, Photokina 2014, is just around the corner and Sony is expected to launch a multitude of products in Germany.

Most importantly, we should see the Nippon company release the RX1 camera that will become one of the first cameras to arrive with Sony’s innovative curved sensor technology.

Now a highly-trusted source speaking to Sony Alpha Rumors has revealed that there’s a big possibility that we’re going to see a replacement arrive for the NEX-7 sometime in September 2014. The report also mentions that this camera will be bundled with a full frame sensor.

Since the camera is tipped to launch in September, we can only speculate that it will also make an appearance on the over-saturated grounds at Photokina. If not, we’ll probably see it in the following weeks.

It’s not the first time that we hear talk about Sony wanting to replace the NEX-7. Back in 2013, the rumor lingered for some time, until it became quite clear that the device wasn’t coming in 2013.

Since then, the A6000 stepped onto the market, so it was considered that it could act as a successor for the NEX-6 and NEX-7 shooters.

The camera arrived with the fastest autofocus system in the world, which could achieve 179 AF points. The shooter boasted a 24.3-megapixel APS-C sensor with an integrated OLED electronic viewfiender.

Work could be viewed on the 3-inch LCD articulated screen, the ISO could be pushed as far as 25,600, and the continuous shooting mode was set at 11fps.

The device took advantage of Wi-Fi and NFC, unlike the latest Pentax Q-S1 unveiled earlier this week, which doesn't come equipped with these functions.

Those of you who don’t feel like waiting for the NEX 7 successor with its full frame sensor tech can pick up the A6000 right now from Amazon.

But many still retain hope that a true successor for the device will make a debut on the market at some point. According to the latest leak, Sony has already developed a NEX-7 prototype coming equipped with a full frame image sensor.

So the new camera might be slipped in the same department as the A7, A7R, and A7S. On the other hand, it could be argued that the presence of the full frame sensor won’t make the new camera the real NEX-7 successor. But in the end, it’s just a matter of how you like to look at it.
