Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile might be finally getting ready for the unveiling of the long rumored Xperia Togari phablet, which has been recently said to arrive on shelves as Xperia ZU, or Xperia Z Ultra.

The company has already sent out press invites for an event set to take place in Paris on July 4, stating that “Sony Mobile reserves a big surprise for you,” as Xperia Blog notes in a recent post.

Furthermore, the invitation offers a glimpse at the side of the upcoming device, which should land on the market with a stylus, the press invite suggests.

The smartphone is expected to be very thin when made official, just as previous rumors on it suggested, with the headphone jack placed on its side.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the smartphone was previously said to hit shelves with a 6.4-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD 1080p resolution.

At the same time, it is said to include a Snapdragon 800 chipset inside, a quad-core processor clocked in at 2.2GHz and paired with Adreno 330 graphics, along with 2GB of RAM.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra is also expected to sport 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

The specifications list of this smartphone should also include an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with full HD video recording capabilities, along with a 2MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

The mobile phone is also said to run under Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, and to sport a body that measures 179.2 x 92 x 6.5mm and weighs 212g.

What remains to be seen is whether the device will also be waterproof, the same as Xperia Z before it, and whether it will pack a brand new user interface, as a recent report suggested.
