Sony has launched a new seasonal event for its free-to-play Free Realms MMO, called simply Summer Camp. The new content is available to all the 11 million registered players who are interested in the videogame, the publisher planning 13 weeks of live events, daily quests, competitions, exploration and adventure designed to occupy the time of kids who are now free of the burden of daily school activities.

There are two camps that players can choose to join, Chatty in the Sacred Grove and Robbie on the other side of an in-game lake. When one side is chosen, players will need to defend the camp and protect the main area of the camp but there's also the choice of staying neutral and going between the two in order to complete quests and daily tasks.

Each new week comes complete with a theme, including Pirates, Beaches, Sports and Pets. There are also new objects offered in the Coin Shop and the Free Realms Marketplace. Whatever their preferred activities, players must also watch out for Bigfoot that has been seen running through the forest.

Sony is also saying that it has launched new multi-month membership options for those interested in paying a low fee in order to get access to all the content offered in Free Realms. A subscription for 12 months translates into players paying just 3.30 dollars for each month of game access.

Sony seems to be content with the level of success that Free Realms has seen and recently announced a new free-to-play MMO it plans to launch, based around the Clone Wars series, in its turn based on the Star Wars universe. Players will be able to join the factions seen in the series and have access to a variety of mini-games focusing on droids, pods and starfighters.
