Sony might be launching an interesting camera before Photokina

Yesterday Sony unveiled the A5100 camera which has been called the tiniest APS-C interchangeable-lens device to grace the market.

But another digital camera will soon be rolled out under the Sony umbrella. According to a report coming from Digicame-info (via Sony Alpha Rumors), Sony is working on an interesting little device dubbed the KW1 that should make an appearance in just a few days.

You might want to know what makes the device stand out. Well, it will be a compact camera arriving with a 1 / 2.3-inch Exmor RS sensor, which is a first.

The camera will also come equipped with a 23mm f/2.0 lens, which is a prime lens and is highly unusual. Word on the street has it that there's a possibility the compact device could rely on a curved sensor, but there’s no information to backup such a claim.

The camera is also said to boast image stabilization, built-in ND filter, 3-inch display, shutter speeds of 1/80000 seconds, Wi-Fi and NFC. Last but not least, the device will support a bunch of memory cards too.

The Sony KW1 is expected to arrive in a few days, which is pretty strange given that Photokina 2014 will start in a few weeks. So take the info with a big, healthy grain of salt.
