Sony unveiled two additional Xperia smartphones last week, at the Mobile World Congress 2012 trade fair, the Xperia U and Xperia P. Both devices are expected to hit shelves in mid-Q2.

Until then, Sony fans will be able to purchase the Xperia S in Europe, Xperia ion in the United States or Xperia NX in Japan.

However, these won’t be the last Android phones launched by Sony this year.

The folks over at XperiaBlog were able to get their hands on some NenaMark benchmark results, which point to the fact that Sony is indeed planning to integrate Qualcomm’s S4 Snapdragon chipset into its future Xperia smartphones.

An unannounced Sony Hayabusa, also known as Sony LT29i has been benchmarked a while back and the results hint to a mid-range Android smartphone.

Even if the alleged Sony Hayabusa runs a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 2012 will be the year of quad-core smartphones. According to these results, the phone might be delivered with Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system on board.

In addition, the Hayabusa (LT29i) sports a large screen, probably 4.3-inch, which supports 1196 x 720 pixels resolution.

Even though this might sound like a mistake, as the benchmark should have read a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, it looks like Sony Hayabusa’s display is of the same size in comparison with Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Furthermore, the 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor (no word on model) is complemented by an Adreno 225 graphics processing unit (GPU). No other details are available for the moment, but the smartphone is likely to be launched on the market in Q3 2012.

Sony Hayabusa (LT29i) is just a codename, as the final product will probably be renamed following the current pattern, so we should expect it to be called something like Xperia H or Xperia Y.
