Sony, as the multi-faceted company that it is, is preparing to release a product for a side of its business that doesn't get as much attention as the others: camcorders.

The product is called, or will be called, GW88V and is a camcorder based on the Exmor R CMOS image sensor.

That means it supports full HD video recording and high-quality photography. As expected from a 20.3-megapixel sensor really.

The product also boasts water resistance (10 meter underwater), low temperature resistance (-10 degrees C), protection against shocks and 10m falls, and dust resistance (IP5X dustproof).

The price will be fairly high though, of NT$24,900 (US$830 / €622).

Sales will start on June 20, according to the report published by Digitimes. That means we only have a couple of days to wait.
