Two versions of the phone heading towards the US market

Two versions of the Sony Ericsson Z320 mobile phone have been approved by FCC. Z320i and Z320a have passed the tests and have high chances of soon hitting the US market.

It was just about time for this clamshell phone to hit the market, as Sony Ericsson has announced it for some time now. We're not there yet, though, as the handset has only passed through FCC. This is one step closer to its release, although it could very well take a while until the device hits stores.

Sony Ericsson Z320 is actually a middle ranged mobile phone that targets especially users interested in the fashionable side of handsets. Its design resembles the PEBL one of Motorola, as it comes with some smooth, polished curves that seem to suit best the female audience.

Both versions feature the same design, while the difference in specifications is still unknown. The phones have a 1.3 megapixel camera that will manage to bring only average quality images and nothing more, although it also includes a 4x digital zoom. The display screen is a 65k color one capable of a low resolution of 128 x 160 pixels, which makes it a rather poor and little evolved one.

There is also an internal memory of 12 MB that will surely prove to be insufficient, especially as the clamshell includes no additional storage space, as it does not support microSD cards. On the other hand, Sony Ericsson Z320 has infrared and USB mass storage, which brings it closer to what evolved handsets are capable of providing.

Surprisingly, this is the first rumor concerning this mobile phone, since its producer announced it. There is no information about the date when Sony Ericsson Z320 will hit the market, although this should happen pretty soon, given the fact that the phone has just been FCC approved.
