Although Xperia ray has just been announced by Sony Ericsson, customers can already pre-order the smartphone in several European countries.

In this regard, it appears that Germany has become the third country where Android fans and tinkerers can pro-order the Xperia ray via Amazon.de.

UK and Switzerland are among the first countries to accept pre-orders for the Xperia ray and possibly among the first to receive it.

While UK release date is rumored to be scheduled for August 15, Amazon.de does not reveal any details regarding the Xperia ray availability date.

However, the online retailer is now taking pre-orders of the smartphone for €369 off-contract, but the phone's price is likely to decrease as we near its official launch on the market.

Sony Ericsson Xperia ray is a sleek and elegant smartphone with stylish aluminum frame, which measures 111 x 53 x 9.4 mm and weighs 100g (battery included).

The smartphone comes with a 3.3-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive multi-touch screen that supports 16 million colors, 480 x 854 pixels resolution, which is based on Bravia Mobile Engine technology.

Equipped with a single core Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor clocked at 1GHz, complemented by an Adreno 205 GPU (graphics processing unit), Xperia ray is delivered with the latest Google mobile platform, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, out-of-the-box and Timescape UI on top.

The handset boasts an 8.1-megapixel camera with Exmor R technology for mobile and HD video functionality, as well as a secondary front-facing camera for video calls.

Sony Ericsson Xperia ray offers users a seamless social network experience through integration of various services, including Facebook and Twitter.

The phone's 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 430 hours of standby time or up to 7 hours of talk time.

Sony Ericsson's official statement mentions that the Xperia ray is scheduled to hit shelves in Q3 2011.
