A few days ago, Sony Ericsson teased an Xperia handset that the company should announce next week during the International Consumer Electronics Show, in Las Vegas.

However, the handset maker did not reveal any detail on the phone’s specs sheets, so we could only speculate on the nature of Sony Ericsson’s official announcement.

This is about to change as more and more details regarding the said Xperia handset have started to surface. The folks over at ITProPortal have been able to confirm that Sony Ericsson will launch the Xperia arc HD at CES 2012.

They also managed to grab the device for a hands-on session and benchmarked its capabilities. Also known as Sony Ericsson Nozomi, the Xperia arc HD will be delivered with Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread, though previous rumors claimed the device would run Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

Still, this should not pose a problem for Android enthusiasts as the company will probably roll out the Android 4.0 upgrade shortly after the Xperia arc HD becomes available on the market.

Furthermore, the Xperia arc HD will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8660 chipset, the same that is now embedded onto HTC EVO 3D. Although the chipset supports 1.5 GHz dual core processor, the information has yet to be confirmed by Sony Ericsson.

Anyway, other confirmed key features of the unannounced Sony Ericsson Xperia arc HD include 12-megapixel rear camera, 1 GB of RAM and 8GB internal memory.

Unfortunately, the phone lacks a microSD card slot for memory expansion, which will probably be one of the main downsides of the device, especially since it packs such low storage amount.

The large capacitive touchscreen display boasts HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution and is probably based on Sony Ericsson’s Bravia technology. It is also worth mentioning that the Xperia arc HD will only support microSIM cards.
