Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson announced in the beginning of ongoing year the launch of a new handset running under the Symbian operating system, namely the Sony Ericsson Vivaz, a device that should land in the United States on the airwaves of wireless carrier AT&T. Back in February, the mobile phone received FCC approval with support for AT&T's bands, and was recently spotted with the carrier's logo on it.

Confirmation of Sony Ericsson Vivaz being on its way to AT&T does not come only from the image that FCC posted recently, which shows the handset with the carrier's branding, but also from the User Guide, of the device, which makes reference to AT&T Navigator, AT&T Maps and AT&T FamilyMap, as a recent article on UnwiredView reports.

The handset is already available for purchase in several markets around the world, and, although no specific details on the matter emerged for the time being, it might not be too long before it is put on sale in the United States too. The Sony Ericsson Vivaz tuns under the Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system.

The specifications list of this device includes an 8.1-megapixel photo snapper that comes with HD 720p video recording capabilities, a scratch-resistant touchscreen display that boasts a 360 x 640 pixel resolution, a 720MHz processor with PowerVR SGX graphics, a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space to be added into the equation (an 8GB memory card pre-installed), DLNA, 3.5mm headset jack, and GPS receiver. At the same time, we should mention that the new device comes with social networking integration, including Facebook and Twitter.

For what it's worth, AT&T's users should soon enjoy a nice range of new devices on their carrier's airwaves. In addition to announcing a new series of Android-based devices, including the already launched HTC Aria or the Samsung Captivate, the wireless carrier was also rumored to launch the BlackBerry 9800 slider, and now confirmation emerged on Vivaz being en route to its stores.
