The new handset seems to be rather unique

A new Sony Ericsson mobile phone has recently surfaced to the Web, and it seems that this would be a rather unique handset, at least in comparison to other devices released by the mobile phone maker. The new phone seems to come under the code name Sony Ericsson Reese.

The new Sony Ericsson Reese, if that is going to be its name at launch, has made an appearance over the Esato forums on a Sony Ericsson promo flyer. There are not too many details available along with the device, and the image does not seem to offer much about the handset either.

On the other hand, the text included on the flyer unveils the fact that the new device might be targeted at young mobile users: “The new Reese from Sony Ericsson. A unique swivel design reveals a QWERTY keypad below the large portrait screen, which allows you to view several messages of any kind in high definition. It also comes with one-click access to your favourite networking sites. So now it’s never been easier to keep up with your mates.”

Another interesting fact about the new device is that the display stays in a vertical position even when the QWERTY keyboard is unveiled. This feature is a first time for a mobile phone and should make the device even more appealing this way.

The operating system of the new Sony Ericsson Reese is not known either, so we might see it come with Android or Windows Mobile, or even with the same platform as other SE handsets.

At the same time, it is also unclear whether the mobile phone maker will showcase the handset at the Mobile World Congress, which starts today in Barcelona. Hopefully, it will make an appearance at the conference and we'll be able to bring you more details on the device.
