Japanese Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson has been long rumored to plan on bringing to the market a new, high-end smartphone that might arrive on shelves under the name of Nozomi, and the handset has just made an appearance on a benchmarking website.

The Sony Ericsson Nozomi was just spotted on NenaMark, where some info on the hardware capabilities it could arrive on shelves with has emerged.

NenaMark is a benchmarking tool used for measuring the GPU performance of smartphones, and the emergence of this device there suggests that it might not be too long before it will make an official appearance on shelves as well.

As stated above, the NenaMark listing also unveils a series of details on the upcoming handset, such as the fact that it might arrive on shelves with a 1.5GHz application processor inside, complemented by a Qualcomm Adreno 220 GPU.

This will make it the fastest smartphone that Sony Ericsson added to its Xperia lineup to date, even if the CPU would be only a single core one.

The mobile phone is also listed there with a display that can deliver a 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, which makes it the first smartphone from Sony Ericsson to arrive with an HD display.

One other thing that was seen in the NenaMark listing was the fact that Nozomi runs under the Android 2.3.5 platform at the moment. However, it might arrive on shelves either with a newer Gingerbread iteration, or with the future Ice Cream Sandwich OS on board.

No other details on the smartphone have been spotted at the moment, yet it might not be too long before more info emerges.

During the ongoing year, Sony Ericsson unveiled over half a dozen Xperia smartphones, and it would not come too much as a surprise if the company launched new ones before the end of the year. Stay tuned for more.
