Sony Ericsson has been expanding several of its brands, including Walkman, Cybershot and now Bravia, onto mobile phones. Now, Sony has quite a vast experience when it comes to all the products bearing the aforementioned brands, as well as video game consoles. Taking this into account, there would be no reason for Sony Ericsson not to introduce mobile phones that are more suited for gaming, bringing mobile handsets a little closer to Sony's portable gaming device, the PSP.

The first attempt in providing a mobile phone for gamers can be attributed to Nokia. The Finish mobile phone manufacturer has released the N-Gage a few years ago and even though Nokia is constantly aiming to improve it, having now released a new N-Gage platform, the handset has never been all that popular among users. Samsung has also released a gaming mobile at one point in time, the SPH-G1000 and it has become such a massive success that most people have never even heard of it. In fact, many companies have attempted to improve mobile gaming in one way or another, and most of them have failed in doing so.

Now a rumor has finally surfaced according to which Sony Ericsson is now planning to introduce a mobile phone dedicated to all the mobile gamers out there, packing advanced multimedia capabilities and an interface that's similar to the PSP's. While the idea of a PSP-like mobile phone is not at all bad, keep in mind that the development and release of a gaming phone from Sony Ericsson remains just a rumor for the time being. Just as in the case of most of Sony Ericsson's phones, if a PSP-phone is being planned, more rumors regarding it and eventually leaked photos should show up in the future.
