Not in the next 12 months

It was time for Sony Ericsson to make a clear statement on whether they will truly bring a PSP mobile phone in February next year, as rumors stated to be a sure thing to come. Sony Ericsson's senior marketing manager, Richard Dorman, officially stated that such a product is definitely not planned to be released during the next year and uncertain in the future.

Everyone has gotten excited over the idea of seeing Sony Ericsson start developing PSP mobile phones, especially as their patent for such a device looked great. Moreover, the producer's competitors also started taking this handset range seriously, with the release of several gaming phones. The reason that the company offered was that they wanted to focus on their existing line of Cyber-shot and Walkman phones instead of investing in a new one.

Sony Ericsson games boss Peter Ahnegard at the Leipzig gaming conference made some ambiguous statements which have been interpreted as a promise for the release of a gaming phone before Christmas. In fact, what he stated was that it's not sure before which Christmas this will happen, although it will eventually come out on the market. Now, Richard Dorman clearly states that it will not happen during the next 12 months, setting the possibility for a release of such a device sometime during the distant future.

The same goes for the Bravia phone that Sony Ericsson has released in Japan. The company's senior marketing manager stated that the phone is available on that market because it is considerably more evolved than that of the UK, which is also the main reason that it will not be launched there too. His statement can be applied to the entire Europe, as mobile TV adoption is even lower in other countries there and has a long way to go until reaching the telecom performances of Japan.
