Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson is getting ready for the release of a series of new devices, as some of the latest leaks shows, and the just spotted Sony Ericsson Azusa could be one of them.

The mobile phone has just made an appearance on NenaMark, the Android benchmark for hardware accelerated graphics that already unveiled info on other handsets out there, such as the Motorola DROID X2 for Verizon.

No official confirmation on the new mobile phone emerged for the time being, but there are some details available on it, such as the fact that it could run under the new Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread operating system from Google.

The handset sports the model name of Azusa, and is manufactured by SEMC (Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications).

It should arrive on shelves with a large touchscreen display that would boast a FWVGA (480 x 854 pixel) resolution.

Among the available info on it, we can count the fact that it should include a Qualcomm Adreno 205 GPU inside, which might be complemented by a 1GHz Snapdragon application processor.

The rest of the handset's specifications list are shrouded in mystery for the time being, but additional info on the matter could emerge in the not too far future.

According to the guys over at Pocketnow, the handset might actually turn out to be the Xperia Acro for Japan (which is a special version of the Xperia Arc, it seems). The device was able to score 45.20 (min, AVG and max) in the said benchmark, which would be on par with what Xperia arc was able to deliver, hence the possible connection between the two.

However, since nothing was confirmed on this until now, all these remain suppositions, and the Sony Ericsson Azusa smartphone cannot be considered something more than just a rumor. Hopefully, additional details on it would emerge soon, so stay tuned to learn the news.
