Sony Erricson has just announced the release of a new phone model, the S500. This phone resembles a great deal a previous model, W580i Walkman phone, when it comes to its main features.

Among the few differences between the two phone models, the software configuration plays an important part. Even more, the S500 model doesn't have a memory stick included, for purchase. It proves to be an important aspect, as Sony Ericsson S500 comes equipped with only 12MB of internal memory that can be expanded through the phone's memory stick slot.

This 2.5G slider phone has an appealing design, with only 14 mm in thickness. This makes it easy to handle and adds a modern look to it. Moreover, it comes in two beautiful colors: Misterious Green and Spring Yellow.

The interesting aspect about the display is that the phone's themes change at preset moments, such as when day turns to night, in weekends or when seasons change. This adds a personal touch to it and makes it seem more capable of adapting to the user's life rhythm.

The 2 inch screen has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and is capable of displaying up to 262K colors. It is great news, as pictures shot with the 2 megapixel camera look their best when displayed on it. Even more, images and different types of data can be sent through email to other contacts. Connectivity is available through Bluetooth, GPRS and USB Cable.

Sony Ericsson S500 will be available for purchase in North America sometime by the third quarter of 2007. The pricing and carrier details have not been specified yet.
