After launching in March the first cell phone that combined the functions of a cell phone with those of a walkman, Sony Ericsson is back now with a new model. The first model of walkman phone had a memory of 512 MB, the Sony Ericsson W550 model has half of that amount, which means that uses will be able to store around 75 AAC or MP3 formatted songs.

The digital camera fitted on this model has also weaker performances, Sony Ericsson W550 offering a resolution of 1.3MP and a 4X digital zoom. Although the phone also supports Java games, the music is still the primary feature, Sony Ericsson providing a battery that ensures 30 hours of playback.

The phone is also shipped with headphones and with the Disc2Phonecare software, which ensures the transfer between the PC and the cell phone. Sony Ericsson emphasizes that Sony Ericsson W550 can also be used just as a digital music player.

'This new Walkman phone is aimed at fun seekers who enjoy a good party and like to share enjoyable moments with friends,' said Steve Walker, Sony Ericsson's Head of Product Marketing. 'There are so many entertainment features crammed into this small, sleek handset that whether you are alone or with a group of friends, the W550 can satisfy all your entertainment needs.'
