Sony decided at the beginning of this year that it was time to introduce a complete new line of digital cameras and thus Sony came out with the new S-series of digital cameras during the PMA (digital Imaging event in the U.S.A.) in February 2005. The Sony Cybershot DSC-S90 is the top model of this line. Equipped with a Carl Zeiss lens, a 3x optical zoom combined with a beautiful size LCD monitor and the unique Stamina technology gives this Sony Cybershot S90 some interesting specifications to play with. The Sony S-series is aiming at the starting photographer, so anyone should be able to simply and easily operate the S-line cameras.

LetsGoDigital has reviewed the camera. Here are their conclusions: "The Sony Cybershot S90 is a compactly designed digital camera with a huge size LCD monitor on the back panel of the camera. The 2.5 inch sized monitor is a perfect replacement for the 'old fashioned' optical viewfinder. The Sony S90 aims at the crowd and therefore carries an affordable and attractive price tag. But that doesn't mean we are dealing with a stripped down digital camera, on the contrary. The Sony Cybershot DSC-S90 is equipped with various setting possibilities, such as seven pre-set scene shooting modes, and together with the 4 Megapixels of resolution, a Carl Zeiss lens, 3x optical zoom and a movie function (VGA with 30 fps) the camera contains sufficient features to be able to compete with its competitors."

"All in all we may conclude that the Sony Cybershot S90 is an excellent digital camera, well-worth its money. The camera is versatile, but remains a straightforward operable camera through its user-friendly approach and it certainly won't frighten off the beginning photographer. The camera offers outstanding image quality and replaces the traditional 35mm camera without a doubt. The Sony Cybershot S90 is the S-series digital cameras' top model and is highly recommended, certainly with the results we achieved when testing this camera," concluded LetsGoDigital.
