Sony, a technology that has a strong presence in both the consumer market and the video game space, has announced that it is integrating its PlayStation Network service in both the Tablet S, which will be launched during September, and in the new Xperia arc S smartphone.

Sony has not offered clear details on what video games will be offered on the new devices and whether it has plans to port more titles from the PlayStation Portable handheld or even from the PlayStation 3 home console.

The PSN will allow users to enjoy both Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited, getting access to a big catalog of songs and film content.

The new Xperia arc S and the new tablet are the second and third devices that Sony has deemed to be PlayStation certified after the initial version of the Xperia.

Nikolaus Scheurer, who is the head of Product Marketing at Sony Ericsson, has stated, “XperiaTM arc S is the fastest and most entertaining XperiaTM to date and it clearly demonstrates how the XperiaTM family are the best smartphones to experience great entertainment services such as Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited.”

The Sony Tablet S has a 9.4 inch touch enabled display and is powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 graphics chip.

It also includes Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity options and the most recent version of the Android operating system.

The cheapest version is the one with 16 of memory, which will sell for 499 dollars.

The Xperia arc S has a 1.4 Ghz processor and incorporates new technology like the Sony 3D sweep panorama technology.

Sony has always maintained that the PlayStation Network can be integrated into more than simple gaming devices and that tablet and smartphone users can benefit from the services it offers.

The company is also getting ready to launch the new PlayStation Vita handheld before the end of the year.
