The development team working on the PlayStation 4 at Sony is now asking the user community for ideas on how they can improve the home console in the near future, in order to make sure that they deliver an experience that appeals to as many customers as possible.

The new Share feature on the official PlayStation Blog allows all those interested to write down their ideas, get feedback and make sure that a member of the company reacts to it if they feel it can improve the platform.

The company explains that, “All Share idea submissions are first approved by a human operator before they enter the public database. Most likely, your idea submission duplicates or closely resembles a previously approved idea. In that case, vote for the original idea and note any fine distinctions in the comments section. We're also less likely to publish ideas which are particularly unrealistic or unlikely.”

Sony makes it clear that all the ideas that show up on the blog are not an actual list of what the development team will work on in the near future, but only a sort of reference that can show fans what the wider community is thinking about.

They add, “While we don't publicly disclose internal decision-making processes, Share continually tracks ‘Ideas in Action’ - see the current numbers in action in the ‘Share Community Stats’ listed to the right of the page.”

Sony has recently announced that it has managed to sell more than 7 million units since it was launched in November of last year.

The company also insists that it is still facing some supply problems, which should be solved by the end of summer, and that it is getting ready to continue to improve the firmware of the device in order to make sure that players get an user experience that’s always getting better.

The rival Xbox One from Microsoft has only managed to ship about 5 million devices, but the company has recently announced that it is dropping the Kinect motion tracking system from the retail package and that it is lowering the price to 399 dollars or Euro.

Sony has not suggested that it has any sort of plans to drop the price of its own PlayStation 4 at any point in the near future.

The biggest medium-term project for the device is the addition of virtual reality capabilities via the Project Morpheus concept in the coming years.
