The new app flavors will arrive on Android 4.2 devices soon

Today, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile officially announced the availability of updated flavors of its media apps for Android devices, including WALKMAN, Album & Movies in 30secs.

According to a recent post on Sony’s blog, the new app releases arrive on devices with the company’s cloud music, video, and photo services integrated.

Furthermore, the vendor notes that the updated app releases will provide users with more content than before, as well as with new features such as a “recommendation” functions.

In WALKMAN, this translates into delivering the option to choose from suggested theme, mood, or whatever friends might be listening to.

The company also notes that the updated applications will provide users with access to hardware, tech, content, artists, filmographers and more, offering a complete Sony experience.

The updated WALKMAN application comes with the following features:

- Sony’s Music Unlimited integration – with universal search across local and cloud content… - New social features making it easy to discover, play and share tunes on your social channels - Gapless, smooth playback

Sony’s Album app was updated with the following enhancements:

- PlayMemories Online integration – ability to upload to, access, browse your PlayMemories library in the cloud - Recall Playback, that intelligently displays and reminds you of memories, occasions and events - Favourites – lets you “star” your best snaps, for easy viewing later

As for the Movies app, it was updated with seamless access to Sony’s Video Unlimited, as well as with a brand new user interface with a banner video function for trailers and recently played videos.

According to Sony, the updated flavors of these apps will released on all Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, and Xperia Tablet Z (& Xperia Z Ultra) devices with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean loaded on top.

“You’ll receive a notification when it’s available, and following that, you’ll be able to download/install over-the-air via Update Center, from which you’ll also be able to launch the new apps straight away,” the company announced.
