This month, word on the street had it that Sony was gearing up to produce a successor for its A77 camera. The new model has been dubbed A77II so far and is expected to make an appearance in retail, starting this summer.

Until now the A77II has been living in the realm of pure speculation, but new surface information shows us the Sony A77 has been marked as “Sold out” in the official Sony UK, Sony Germany, Sony France, Sony Italia and Sony Spain web stores.

What does that signify, you might ask. Well, most likely that the A77II will be announced a month from now, as I have been telling you before.

The new camera should draw the attention of photographers everywhere, since it has been rumored to bundle an AF system faster than the A6000 (the world’s fastest at the moment). On top of that, during the same launch event we’re probably going to see new A and E mount lenses arrive, too.

Previous talk had the Sony A77 successor arriving in June, but for some reason Sony seems to be rushing things along, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. So at this point, we can be pretty sure the A77II is indeed coming, but more info, spec-related and such, will probably arrive in the upcoming weeks.
