Sony has just announced the successor of its NEX-3 interchangeable-lens camera at this year's CES in Las Vegas. What's more important is the fact that, as of now, this is the world's smallest and lightest mirrorless camera on the market and Sony's first to drop the NEX designation.

The camera features a 20.1MP Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor powered by a BIONZ X image processor, 180-degree tiltable LCD screen, as well as increased ISO sensitivity of up to ISO16,000.

In addition to that, the new Sony A5000 model comes with enhanced Wi-Fi support as well as NFC (Near Field Communication), which allows you to easily connection and share your photos and videos to your smartphone and/or tablet.

The Sony A5000 (ILCE-5000L) is now available for pre-order at all Sony Europe online stores at a price of 499€ / $680, higher than the announced US price, which stands at $600 / €440.
