The device is being marketed online

It seems that Sony is sending its brand new e-book reader into the wild. The new addition to the company's portfolio was sillily dubbed PRS505SC.

Besides its funny codename, the device features 6-inch four-tone e-ink display, which is said to be powerful enough to be used in broad daylight. And that's something big!

The e-book reader is powered by a an internal battery and apparently, it can handle no less than 7.500 page turns on a single charge, meaning you'll be able to read most of Harry Potter on a single use. However, the reader can be charged through the USB 1.1-2.0, while loading media content.

As for its memory capacity, the device has a built-in memory that allows each user to store about 160 books, but the number is said to be easy expendable via an SD card slot or using the Memory Stick Duo cards. These cards can help the device load media files, including the popular AACs and MP3 audio files, as well as PDFs or Word documents, not to mention the amount of images it can collect.

Sadly, the reader's software is only compatible with Windows XP or Vista. Sorry, Mac users, maybe next time. Surely, there have been some significant improvements since Sony's last e-Book reader, such as a better ergonomics, the PRS500's USB replacement with the faster USB 2.0.

The design has also suffered a couple of changes, the reader's size was reduced to 174mm x 122mm x 8mm. And the best of all is the memory boost from 90MB of RAM to about 200.

And if all this info aroused your interest in this great item, it's good to know some nice fellows from Abt Electronics are already taking pre-orders for the PRS505SC for a price tag of around 300 bucks! But, hey, it's a Sony, so price should be just a minor detail.
