The skinny TV will feature just a 11-inch screen and will be launched this year

Super-skinny high-resolution TVs are Sony's fixed goal. During the last years, the Japanese company tried hard to put mostly good tech inside TV "boxes" in order to make them look better than the ordinary bulky TV sets. And listen to this. After presumably 5 years of hard work, they're announcing the slimmest ever OLED TV. Sony said that they would actually start selling the 3 mm thick anorexic TV sets this year. That makes it almost visible if you try looking at it sideways.

The TV sets come with a much thinner panel than LCDs because they use OLED (organic light-emitting diode), a special type of light-emitting diode. OLED is already used digital cameras, mobile phones and many other panel devices. But here's a little bit of the bitter truth. Apparently, Sony thought that the TV's thickness is far more important than the screen size. So, their first OLED Tv is expected to feature just a tiny miny 11-inch screen, compared to Samsung's 2.2 cm thick 40-inch single-sheet OLED panel prototype. Still, don't start throwing your old TV sets just yet! Good things happen to those who wait for the extra inches.

The specs will probably be announced around the official launch, but I'm guessing a 1024 X 600 pixels across the 1, 000, 000:1 contrast panel, capable of 8-bit RGB color. To complete the benefits, (I'm sure that Sony had the lazy in mind when they designed it) imagine the limited quantity of dust those 3 mm can hold.

The price tag is expected to be high enough for you to stick with the bulky TV sets. Come to think of it, you can still kill the annoying flies that sit on top of the TV, eh?
