Sega is celebrating 20 years since it released the first Sonic the Hedgehog game and has just detailed a special deal it's currently hosting on the PlayStation Network, where users can download the Sonic 20th Anniversary Bundle.

Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most iconic video game characters of all time, despite the fact that the latest iterations in the series created by Sega haven't exactly done justice to its blue mascot.

Things are getting a bit better, as the Japanese company started releasing a back to basics Sonic the Hedgehog 4 episodic title, and is gearing up to combine classic Sonic with the newer version in the upcoming Sonic Generations.

Now, in order to properly celebrate the 20th anniversary of the character, Sega announced on the PlayStation Blog that, for a limited time, 20 days to be more exact, users can get the Sonic 20th Anniversary Bundle off the PlayStation Store.

The bundle includes the original Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic Adventure (and the DX Upgrade pack), Sonic 4: Episode 1 and a beautiful dynamic theme taken from the world of Sonic 4

The price is just £13.99/€17.99, and represents a 50% discount over buying all these titles individually.

Those that don't want to put any money down can still get the demo for the upcoming Sonic Generations, which is available to all PlayStation Network and Xbox Live users, up until July 12.

The demo includes the famous Green Hill Zone, both in 2D gameplay as well as in 3D one, with players being able to swap out the old Sonic with his newer version.

Three free static themes have also been deployed onto the PlayStation Store to mark the 20th anniversary of Sonic, so you have plenty of choices to honor the speedy blue mascot.

Sonic Generations is currently expected to arrive on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo 3DS in November.
