No solution, other than replacement, at this time...

Although most of the iPhone news from Europe have been centered around the events taking place in Germany, there is a ruckus stirring up over the UK iPhone and the supposed reception problems it has.

Reports of the iPhone having serious reception problems in the UK are starting to catch wings, but beyond the sensationalism of the news, there seems to be little to this story. While it is true that a number of people have reported having reception issues with their iPhones, both on Apple's own online discussion boards and on O2's, the actual number of people writing on the matter is very small. Adding the posts up, you are looking at about 100 replies, spread across several threads, hardly enough to justify the amount of attention the supposed issue has been receiving considering the number of devices Apple has sold.

As far as the reception problems themselves are concerned, users' posts clearly point to a problem with the iPhone as other phones on the same network have no reception problems being in the same locations as the iPhone. Further support to this theory is the fact that some users are reporting having no more issues once they get a replacement phone from Apple, or when the device is connected to the computer and charging.

Although the problem might not be as widespread as some reports make it out to be, it is nevertheless quite serious for those affected by it as in many cases the reception is not just bad, but lacking altogether. So far, there has been no official response from either Apple or O2 and apart from doing a clean restore of the iPhone software no solutions have been found for this problem. Since the issue does indeed seem to be with the device itself, affected users' best course of action is to try and get the device replaced as soon as possible.
