Rock Band 3 is now out in North America and will launch on Friday on European markets and Harmonix has officially talked about how the song export feature for Rock Band 3 will work and which tracks from the previous game fans will not be able to move to the new music simulation experience.

Players first need to get a hold of their Rock Band 2 manual and locate the code which is on the back of it.

Then they should start Rock Band 3 and chose the Get More Songs options on the main menu, then going with the Redeem Code option and inputing their personalized sequence of characters.

Players will then need to pay a flat fee of 9.99 dollars in order to re license the tracks and they are set to go.

Players who cannot find their manual and their code can contact Electronic Arts on the official game site in order to see how they can get a new one.

Here are the songs that cannot be exported from Rock Band 2, mostly because of licensing issues: “Let There Be Rock” by AC/DC, “Any Way You Want It” from Journey, “Battery” played by Metallica, “Give It Away” from Red Hot Chili Peppers and “Spoonman” by Soundgarden.

All of them are pretty high rated songs from well known bands and Harmonix and MTV Games will probably release them as downloadable content for Rock Band 3 later on.

There are also nine songs from Harmonix powered bands that cannot be exported at the moment but the developer has offered players assurances that they are planning to put them out as of a free DLC package updated with content for the new game.

They are: Abnormality – “Visions”, Anarchy Club – “Get Clean”, Bang Camaro – “Night Lies”, Breaking Wheel – “Shoulder to the Plow”, Libyans – “Welcome to the Neighborhood”, The Main Drag – “A Jagged Gorgeous Winter”, Speck – “Conventional Lover”, The Sterns – “Supreme Girl” and That Handsome Devil – “Rob the Prez-O-Dent”.
