Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger says work on her solo debut album has not been abandoned

Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls has been struggling to put out a solo material since 2006, when she first announced that she had started work on it. When she got back with the band for “Doll Domination,” fans just assumed that she was putting all solo projects on hold or even forgetting about them completely. Not so, Nicole herself tells Billboard: she’s still working on her album, which will come out when the time is right.

The singer says that, even if she did get back with the Dolls for a new album and a new tour, not for one second did she put her dreams as a solo artist aside. As a matter of fact, right now, Nicole is working hard on her album, with even more work to come once the girls’ tour comes to an end this summer, when she’ll go back in the studio to lay down some new tracks.

While saying that the tentatively called “My Name Is Nicole” “may come more sooner than later,” Nicole shies away from pinpointing a precise release date. Either because she doesn’t want to fall in the same trap she fell before – and being forced to push back the release – or simply because she cannot estimate a date, Scherzinger says she believes “it’ll just come out when it wants to come out, on its own.”

“I’m still working on my album, and I’m very excited. I’m a relentless perfectionist. I get one chance to put out a first (solo) album, so when the right time comes I will put it out.” Nicole further explains for Billboard. Moreover, since part of the tracks she had ready for her own material ended up on the Pussycat Dolls’ 2008 “Doll Domination,” she is back in the studio working on ideas for new ones. “[The album] is just in the works and in talks and in the writing process. I haven’t started recording yet.” the singer reveals.

However, the idea of getting back in the studio with producers such as will.i.am and Timbaland once the European tour of the PCD comes to an end is truly exciting for Nicole. Furthermore, she says a collaboration with her good friend Lady GaGa is also possible, so fans of Nicole who still have not lost hope of hearing her solo material should just wait patiently for a while longer – something is bound to come up.
