504 MW of solar power went online in the country this past October

It would appear that the US is indeed committed to curbing greenhouse gas emissions. A new report issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Office of Energy Projects says that, last month, the country installed 700 MW of new electricity capacity.

Of these, a little over 500 MW came from solar projects (twelve of them, to be more precise), around 65 MW came from two wind projects and the remainder came from four biomass projects, Renewable Energy World says.

This means that, for the time being at least, the country is most interested in harvesting sun power and using it to generate electricity.

The same report says that, since the beginning of this year until present day, the US has added 2.5 GW solar, roughly 1 GW wind, 360 MW biomass, and 117 MW hydro to its overall energy generating capacity, the same source details.
