Wireless carrier Three UK has announced the availability of a new software update for the HTC One S devices on its network.

The new firmware is already rolling out to users, the operator announced, but it did not offer specific info on what it was meant to bring along.

“HTC One S owners – a maintenance release has been approved & is being rolled out today,” Three UK announced via Twitter.

As it usually happens with this kind of maintenance updates, users should receive a variety of fixes and enhancements on their devices, so as to benefit from a better experience than before.

“From time to time HTC will release new software for your phone. By updating your phone to the latest available software version you'll get an even better experience,” Three UK notes on its support website.

“Before you update your phone, make sure your battery is fully charged. You should also make sure that you have backed up your personal data, like contacts that are stored on your phone.”

The wireless carrier also explains that the new software update has been already tested and approved for the device, and that only approved firmware updates are being pushed out to handsets.

As soon as the update is made available for a specific device, the owner will receive a notification on the matter.

“Your HTC phone will automatically check and notify you if there's a new update. You can then download and install the software update to your phone. If you have switched this feature off then you should search for updates manually,” the carrier notes.

Those who would like to manually check for the update will have to head over to All apps > Settings > About > Software updates and select Check now.

Users should also know that the download of this update on the wireless carrier’s 3G network will be accounted towards their monthly data limit.
