In the event of a confrontation with Intel

As we informed you yesterday, AMD has been trying to figure out how to get some publicity out of IDF (Intel Developers Forum) in San Francisco and the only method the company has come up with was to throw Intel the glove and to say: "Have you got what it takes? Let's go, right here, right now!"

The analysts haven't missed the chance to notice that such a confrontation wouldn't mean anything, since the test would differ from the real thing.

AMD has reached its purpose and the ad promoting this initiative was seen by Paul Otellini, Intel's CEO, before he got to drink his coffee. A rather unpleasant way to start the day, especially the day when you're supposed to talk at IDF.

Otellini has politely declined AMD's offer, leaving the market to decide who's number one.

In other words, there won't be any Intel AMD head to head confrontation. The interesting part is that we attached a poll to our article from yesterday in which we asked our readers to choose a winner. Of the 59 votes, more than 80% saw AMD as the winner of the confrontation.

Whether AMD has indeed more fans than Intel, or Intel's fans didn't bother to vote, these are aspects which will remain unknown. Regardless of this, we liked the idea and that's why we will hold each week a Technology Deathmatch. If you have any ideas, write them below.
