The following Linux-based operating systems were announced last week: SystemRescueCd 1.3.4, Super OS 9.10, Ylmf OS and sidux 2009-04. dots SystemRescueCdOn December 28th, François Dupoux announced the immediate availability of the SystemRescueCd 1.3.4 operating system. The new release is powered by Linux kernel 2.6.31.9, with an updated Btrfs filesystem from Linux kernel 2.6.32 and Xorg Server 1.6.5. The AIDA software was replaced by HDT, and a few other useful scripts were added and various applications updated.

Highlights of SystemRescueCd 1.3.4:

· Updated the standard Linux kernel packages to version 2.6.31.9 (with an updated Btrfs filesystem, from Linux kernel 2.6.32); · Updated the alternative Linux kernel packages to version 2.6.27.41; · Updated the Xorg Server to version 1.6.5; · Updated NTFS-3G to version 2009.11.14; · Updated gDisk to version 0.5.1; · Updated FSArchiver to version 0.6.2; · Added FSArchiver 0.6.3 Beta 10; · Added the scsiadd script to allow adding and removing SCSI devices; · Added the suspend-usb-device script to allow a safe disconnect operation of USB drives; · Made memtest+ 4.00 to boot as a kernel, in order to fix various issues; · AIDA was replaced by HDT (Hardware Detection Tool) 0.3.6.

Not only that Ylmf OS comes with a GTK theme tuned to be like the Windows XP desktop, but the icons are also identical, and the Wine software is present to allow the users to employ Windows applications.
