dots FedoraOn January 25th, Phil Knirsch announced a last evening, January 25th, the immediate availability for download of the Fedora 14 for IBM System z (s390x) 64-bit systems.

Fedora 14, codenamed Laughlin, comes with a lot of new features and updated packages. The last release of Fedora for IBM System z was Fedora 6, announced on October 24th, 2006. Therefore, the Fedora IBM System z (s390x) Secondary Arch team is proud to announce a new and improved release of this operating system.

dots MandrivaOn January 31st, Mandriva announced the release of Mandriva 2011 Technology Preview, because the developers are having a harder time than they anticipated with some of the components and changes planned for the upcoming release, so the schedule has now been pushed back by two weeks. Mandriva 2011 Technology Preview already includes some of the big changes and new components planned for the first alpha and even for the final, stable release, but is also missing quite a few pieces, not to mention that plenty of bugs should be expected.

The KDE Plasma Workspaces come with a new Activities system, which should make it easier to manage different tasks, several KDE applications come with new features, including Dolphin, and the KDE Platform has some new capabilities as well.
