Ladies, gentlemen, please greet the Pure Digital Chronos II, aka the "son of Chronos", as Shiny Shiny likes to call this fellow. Pure Digital has launched this nice follow up, as a result of the previous model's success.

Therefore, there should be some great improvements in the design. Apparently, it features the same appealing shapes, but an improved display, an automatic light sensor, and an added FM radio with the RDS functionality.

The fact is this radio does a lot of stuff, and it also allows you to preset constant, weekday, weekend or one-off alarm times and choose from tone, DAB or FM to be gently awakened with faded-in sound or music. The owner can even wake up to a different DAB station than he went to sleep with.

Other interesting features include Pure's Intellitext, for browsing stored scrolling text, textSCAN to pause and control scrolling text, as well as an USB port to add some new features as they become available.

The radio frequency is of DAB Band III 174-240 MHz, DAB L-Band 1452-1491 MHz and FM 87.5-108 Mhz, while the speaker system features a full-range 2" drive unit, 1.7W RMS amplifier and 5 active speaker equalization filter.

Not to mention that Pure Digital gives you the chance to protect the environment. Being part of the EcoPlus series, the radio is designed to use 2W at full power and less than 1W on standby mode, with 70% recycled packaging and 100% recycled paper for documentation, and hey, the fellows from Shiny Shiny say it even uses soya-based inks and water-based varnishes.

If you're wondering about pricing and availability details, the Chronos II is said to be available from October 2007 for a price tag of around ?69.99, meaning 140 bucks a pop.
