Twitter user @stroughtonsmith, an Irish iPhone developer described as an "all-around Apple geek," has leaked what is likely one of the first Snow Leopard hackintosh photos available on the Internet, a TUAW piece informs. The hack was achieved on an Eee PC 901 netbook. The About This Mac window shows "Build 10A432" (the Golden Master of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard), although Softpedia cannot confirm the picture is real.

Last week, news broke out that Apple had seeded the final version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard to select developers, and that the build in question (10A432) was actually the Golden Master edition – the version to see itself pressed to optical media and boxed in retail-fashion. Even the disc art had been leaked from the software’s mounted disk image. Build 10A432 then hit torrent sites and other file-sharing platforms. Most people now agree we are dealing with the final version of Snow Leopard, and what better news to hear (as a pirate and a hacker) if not "Snow Leopard booting on a hackintosh"?

Note

Softpedia doesn't encourage downloading non-approved Apple software via file-sharing / torrent sites. This article has a purely informational purpose and doesn't, in any way, suggest that Mac users should go forth with downloading the developer builds of Snow Leopard currently available on such file-sharing / torrent websites.

Apple is expected to release Snow Leopard around the beginning of September, although some claim there is reason to believe Mac OS X 10.6 dropping on August 28. Pictures showing what looks like an actual retail copy of Snow Leopard have also surfaced recently, fueling beliefs that the OS is already undergoing manufacturing, hence arriving early. The company headquartered in Cupertino, California also has an up-to-date program for fans of its operating system, through which customers can acquire a copy of the much-enhanced and optimized software at a discount.
